MSLS 513 Law, Compliance, Benefits, and Social Responsibility

Increasingly, leadership of business organizations is intertwined with local, national and international legal and ethical frameworks that define, regulate and support the business enterprise. The effective, successful business leader must understand the basic components and operations of those frameworks as well as the basic policy assumptions that emanate from that legal framework and influence business decisions. Those policies affect what products are produced, how they are priced, marketed and distributed, as well as who works for the enterprise and how the workplace and its work processes are configured. The extent to which a leader effectively manages or mismanages the human resources of the company will determine the company’s success, and therefore the leader’s own success. This course investigates the basic legal and socio-ethical framework within which companies operate today. 000154 MSM Single Course 5 1.00 Leadership Master's Degree Program Advanced Career Professional No No 0001542 0

MSLS 511 Dynamic Organizational Leadership

This course is designed to help leaders understand and influence human behavior on an individual, interpersonal, and institutional level. The foundation is a knowledge of individual differences and how those unique characteristics affect each person’s thoughts, actions, and motivations. However, it is not enough to simply understand people on their own, separate from others and their environment. Teams and groups have a powerful impact on their members and people behave differently around others than they do alone. Similarly, organizational structures, systems, and cultures have a strong, but seemingly invisible, effect on what people believe, what people say, and what people do. Effective leaders know how to analyze and manage all these complex factors in order to achieve the organization’s objectives. 000153 MSM Single Course 3 1.00 Leadership Master's Degree Program Advanced Career Professional No No 0001532 0
